I just found out that the iPhone will be sold only at the official
"corporate AT&T/Cingular" stores.   No mall kiosks for this
baby.   Your
neighborhood Cingular phone store is not good enough.   You have to locate
your official corporate store, and drive there if you want to get one. This
is a bigger impact in rural areas - where the drive can be quite long.

    This is something to do with the official Apple - Cingular agreement,
so it may be sold in Apple stores also.
