Do an 'ancient canaan weather' search and you'll find some interesting
history of the area from 3000 years ago. It wasn't called the 'land of
milk and honey' for nothing. Go to the east a hundred miles and you've got
very dry high desert, south, well there's a bunch of Egyptians there and
high mountains to the north that don't get much rain or snow. Of course to
the west is the ocean.
