   Since workstation restore is presumed to be not as time-critical, how
about XP's backup software to external USB drives using the aforementioned
Linksys NSLU2

  You could rotate media in and out like tapes and share the media among
stations.  You could install multple media sets for online pseudo-rotating
backup sets.

  Unfortunately, that wouldn't make use of the DDS4 media.   I haven't  yet
found anything that makes proper use of remote tapes over ISCSI.   The
Russian software I installed only partially worked and a test didn't
restore successfully.
