I have remembered that using Backup to restore from a file backup can be
very frustrating. I don't recall the exact issue, but it is baffling the
first time you encounter it. Basically, you just have to persist by
cataloging the backup and making sure you enter the correct path to the
backup. However, it does work!

BTW an alternative procedure is to export your EFS certificate with private
key on the computer used to encrypt the files, then import on the computer
which now holds the files. Outline: run 'mmc' then add the Certificates
snap-in for the current user (the user who encrypted the files on the
computer where the encryption was performed). Under the Personal folder,
you should see Certificates with at least one certificate. RIght-click the
certificate, All Tasks, Export.
