Actually that's probably a better description of XP than Vista. True vista
is own3d but it's not near as obnoxious as XP when it comes to changing
your settings. The only annoyance I've run into is it keeps moving my
control panel icon around on my desktop. Other than that my settings pretty
much stick.
However I should mention that there are a bunch of things you can no longer
set, services you can't stop and don't need, phone home features that must
be enabled, etc. It's like a doctor who likes his rubber glove just a
little too much..
