It didn't crash and burn the whole computer, but that cured me from ever doing optional updates again. If that is the case in Vista, I predict that it will eventually become a major issue - you're on a business trip, the computer updates, crashes and burns. Sure, there will be some level of rollback rocovery, but it may require some level of skill. And what if, as in the example above, it re-insists on a downgrade during a powerpoint presentation. I saw a variation on that this week - every few minutes the presenter would have to break her train of thought and dive for the "Apply updates later" button to prevent a reboot after automatic updates. On a semi-related note, I'm very glad I don't have automatic updates enabled anywhere.... http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/05/11/ms-updates-lockup-fix-not-working_1.h tml --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
