Hello,
I finally picked up a trade magazine and was looking at the
advertisements for the "IceCap" line of aquarium lighting. They were talking
about their lighting producing 100w of power per bulb while mine produces
only 40w (I have a 55 gallon marine tank with 2 Primatinics and 1 "blue"
bulb). So, I stopped by the local fish store and asked about the differences
in the wattage. They said that my bulbs will reach about 10" into the tank
while the higher wattage VHO lighting will go deeper. I wished I'd been told
this when I was purchasing the lighting in the beginning.
So, I have to have any corals in the first 10" in my tank? My tank is
approx. 19" tall. So, I stack the corals on top of anything to get to the top
10"? With my tank only being 11.5" deep that doesn't give a lot of room for
fish once everything is stacked up. Not to mention it'd look rather strange
I'd think.
So, does this sound correct? Should I look to switching to the VHO? Or
would I probably be okay with what I have? Suggestions?
Take care,
John
