Twice? Oh dear, that's not supposed to happen!  In fact, it didn't on my 
computer.  Try changing the bit where I check for escape to:
in al, 60h
cmp al, 1
jne @mainlooper
Actually, I could've left it like that, because it's the same size as what I 
had previously!
Hmm.. And about the speed.. What kind of computer do you have?
