Or, any large application and the resulting features -- sure, things
keep getting larger, but they also add functionality. It's difficult
to not get a larger app then!
That bugs me a lot when people complain about ever-growing programs.
Yes, some of them are probably inefficiently written, but you can't
just dump features into a file that gets smaller, at least not for
very long.

Sure. I never worried too much about DOS memory. (: I figured if
it worked under the IDE it had enough -- I don't do stuff with much
more requirements than that.
