With the installation of a good subwoofer I have discovered yet
another portion of Murphys Law and his reach into the Audio World.
* Whatever is in the listening room will vibrate, hum, thump, boom or make
other distracting noises in direct proportion to the efficiency and cost of
the subwoofer.
Almost everything in sight is vibrating. Each shelf in my center and
each piece of equipment is vibrating and making noise. The screen
protector/glare screen on the rear projection TV hums. Every picture,
nicknack, window, cabinett door, glass shelf and loose article in the room is
making noise when I play the system no louder than live levels and have the
crossover and gain set to realistic levels. And....this is with NON trunk
flapper material...just laser disk movies, jazz & classical CDs, etc.
                             WANTED
*Inexpensive home remedies to vibration and hum, etc.
***Example gleened from www.sdinfo.com: Carefully cut rachet balls
in half/along the seam with a razor and use as isolators under
      each piece of equipment.
***Use heavy insulated draperies or heavy quilts hung as decorations
on walls most likely causing standing waves or a jump point for
      offending vibrations.
Your ideas, other than those suggesting self injury infliction, the sale of
my modem, or indecent, lewd and lascivious acts with a species other than my
own, would be greatly appreciated!!!
Just for the sake of conversation, equipment relocation is not an
option,
Cheers, John
