subject: Re: Web host recommendations

From: Gary Britt

I've been pleased with Bluehost.com for my web hosting and email. They've
got 24/7 support and on the couple of occasions that either I or my wife
had to call them, the wait time wasn't very long (just a 3 to 7 minutes
tops, knock wood) and you get a real live english speaking based in the USA
person on the phone who doesn't just have a script in front of them to
follow.

GoDaddy is OK I think for many things, but if you ever need to talk to a
real live person, forget it you are screwed. You get what you pay for. If
you don't ever need to talk to anyone GoDaddy seems to have really good
uptime performance on their servers and email and their prices are pretty
good. Bluehost isn't much more in terms of price, has real live people to
talk to, but their uptime performance would be a few percentage points less
than GoDaddy. They have been doing a lot of upgrading of equipment and
server farms, etc and have taken everything 100% in-house over the past 6
months or so in an effort to reach 99% uptime.

I've seen several interesting ads from a company called 1 and 1 web hosting
with pricing and features that are as good as they get, but I have no idea
how good the company is or isn't.
