Wayne, considering that I can buy a DECENT current sound
card for about $20 I'd get a new one. They normally come
with the cable.
However, the wiring of the 4 connector plugs is as follows:
red -skip- black - white. Same on both ends.

WC>I require some help or suggestions with a problem here.
WC>I recently lost my old computer and swapped the
WC>ISA proprietey SoundBlaster card into which a
WC>Creative or Panasonic drive plugged directly into the Sound card.
WC>Now I'm running a new CD-ROM drive on IDE 1 and I noted
WC>the analog audio cables do not match.
WC>These are both female connectors I'm speaking of.
WC>The old cable for the Creative CD-ROM drive is wired
WC>blank, white, black, red with red to the side of the drive
WC>while the new CD-ROM's cable goes into the drive as
WC>white, blank, black, red
WC>Same order but the blank is in a different place on each plug
WC>and the pins do not match.
WC>Any opionions as to what success or disaster I might

WC>soldering the salvaged connector and correcting the wiring order?
WC>Sound card works everywhere but with the CD due to the lack of

WC>with the cable for the Sound card I _do_ have
