I've seen a proposed system that provides a "power plate". You
lay a device equipped with a power receiver on it, and it charges / runs.
It's an extension of the electric toothbrush induction coupler system. the
disadvantage compared with the other system under discussion here is that
you have to remember to place the devices on the plate. The advantage is
that the magnetic field is localised to the plate area, not spread
throughout the room.
