-> This guy Leo that i was responding to was told that in order to get &
-> stay sober, he'd have to give up his chopper...How ludicrous!
one of the first things we have to learn in AA if we are to stay sober
(imho) is that there are a lot of people in every meeting and at every
gathering who are still sick :)
learning to sort out the pearls of wisdom and sound advice from the sick
garbage is tough.... especially in the beginning.
the very first meeting i ever attended, scared shaking and out of my
head.... i was told by some idiot that i should keep coming back but it
never really got any better for a drunk like me. the best i could ever
hope for was to hang out with other alcoholics at meetings and white
knuckle it til i died.
i left in despair and didn't go to a second meeting for 10 days.
i'm lucky i found my way back there.... and i wonder how many never do.
