-> AH>DC> ........... Those mighty "iron
-> AH>DC> horses" possessed a charisma diesels never will attain.
->
-> AH>I wish to differ!!! I think that steam was grosly un-econimic and
-> it was onl AH>a natural course of progression to convert to diesels.
-> AH>The sights and sounds of U-boats and early EMD power draging heavy
-> freights AH>are far more impressive and display more "charisma" than
-> a fuel greedy, high AH>maintanence steam loco.
->
-> How many people will any U-boat or GP-9 draw trackside when they're
-> as old as some of the "museum pieces" from the steam age that have
-> literally thousands of people standing around the rails with their
-> cameras when those dinosaurs from the steam age come marching through
-> town?
depending on where you are located I can think of quite a few,
especially depending on what paint job is on them, for example, say the
Union Pacific suddenly allowed the Portola Museum to do a run down to
Keddie and back using Western Pacific GP7's and U-boats that are in
thier inventory...I think highway 70 would get seriously clogged with
traffic...
