From: Gary Britt

No I didn't try that, but the free version is just the pro version without
a license number having been entered that activates script blocking for IE
and a couple of minor interface enhancements. They are the same program
really, but you are right I could have tried going back to the free
version.

No I didn't contact Avast tech support because after looking at their
forums I could tell all they were going to tell me was to make adjustments
to my firewall settings and I had already done all that and even
uninstalled the firewall all together.

No didn't try AVG because I liked what I read about NOD32 and its supposed
superior detection and lighter footprint and performance hit.
