subject: Why Don`t Sun & Apple get together?

From: Ad

Pondering the recent trajectories of Solaris & OSX......

inc the close relationship wrt java, ZFS, & possibly Open Office.....

Given the similarities at a low level of OSX & Solaris....

Given their lack of overlap in market segments.....i.e. OSX basically being
a desktop BSD derivative & Solaris being a server bsd derivative (OK
maybe a Stanford Std Distrib derivative)....

one sees itself as the content creator patform & one the content
delivery platform (dot in dot com etc etc).....

Heck even their HQ'es are reasonably close together....

Imagine a Solaris 10/11 with the OSX desktop, a specific version of
OpenOffice etc as it's Office suite etc.etc.

Sun can look after the hardware to console end of things & Apple can
take it from console to GUI....
