If the application freezes disabling the task manager may not be =
sufficient. Windows may display a message reporting that the = application
is not responding and offering an option to terminate it.
Even without this, if you take the users ability to kill the app this =
way they can either log off, which will kill the app if it does not =
respond to the graceful close request or the user can press the =
computer's reset button or power cycle.

My theory is that recent modifications to the application cause it to
freeze on the desktop and that is why we are suddenly seeing so many
users giving it the three-finger salute. We sent out an email =
yesterday
telling them to contact the helpdesk rather than abnormally =
terminating,
remains to be seen how much cooperation we will get, however if we can
get the managers to enforce it we will be good.
The absolute ideal thing would be if instead of killing it it would =
pop
a message "PLEASE CONTACT HELPDESK".
