subject: Totally munged

From: Bill Lucy

I don't know how it happened, but I have a computer that has three munged
disk drives. It's my main computer, and it's taken me almost a week to get
it into some semblance of order. I've lost some files on a couple drives,
but they're no big loss.

But:

Almost all of my MP3 files (a truly significant number) are completely
screwed up on one drive. If I try to play them, another piece comes up, if
anything at all plays. If I look at the file contents, it's indicating that
none of the id info is there. It apparently doesn't matter that it's taken
years to accumulate all this. Any backups I've had are at other households.
The originals are in storage, and I have no desire to start this process
over.

Again, I don't know how it's happened.

The good part is that I'm back to Windows 2000, SP4. It feels so much more
comfortable to this user.
