Good Choice, a man with taste..
 > First question, is there a way to install to a directory other then
EPT??
There is but the base install is built around a home dir of \adept on any
hpfs
drive, it would take quite a bit of work to change all the files that depend
on the home dir being called \adept. Why mess with it ??

Adept is true multi-node, you fire up *ONE* copy of adept, and it handles
however many nodes you want to run. Ie typing Adept /Nodes 5 at any os/2
prompt in the adept home directory would fire up adept as a 5 node bbs. But
you'll want to do a Adept /Nodes 5 /Setup first so you can point your 5 nodes
to the proper com ports, pipes or set em up as telnet nodes. The /setup is
essential as that's the only way to configure your nodes. Once you're
configured choose shutdown from the pull down menus (don't just close it by
clicking on the upper left corner icon) so adept will save your
configuration.
Then adept /nodes 5 will bring up all 5 nodes of your newly configured bbs.
You monitor the nodes from one main PM window.. each node is a thread started
by adept. Adept handles all the nodes itself. No need for multiple copies of
tyhe exe, like you would have to do with tag. And no need for any more than
one directory of anything adept needs, it's smart enough to know what to do
with the files it needs to run.

Haven't run install in a *LONG* time, don't remember if those messages were
normal or not. Way to find out is to cd\adept and type adept /nodes 1 /setup,
if it comes up and lets you configure the only node you started, chances are
it's ok. Hint the \adept\logfiles can tell you a lot, in there you will find
the main adept logfile (adept.log) and the logfiles for each node you
started,
(Line1.log,line2.log etc) these log files can help you a lot during initial
setup and configuring, especially if your having a problem.

should
Get a basic 1.08f setup working first then upgrade, will be less confusing if
something if something goes wrong.
 > I update as I set up.. It seems there's a lot of updates coming
out..
A lot of good things are happening with adeptxbbs, thats why the barrage of
updates. Heck it has been almost a year since the first update to 107f came
out, I'm not gonna complain about a new build every day.. it'll slow down
some
as the major "things to do list" gets shorter and shorter.
Btw if u have 108f you have an install program to run, if you would rather
not
mess with the install program, there is an alternative, the file adpt109.zip
contains a full \adept directory structure with a working basic 2 node bbs
already setup, all you have to do is create an \adept dir on any hpfs drive,
put adpt109.zip in it, use infozip's unzip to unzip that file in the \adept
dir and then type adept /nodes 2 /setup, configure your com ports for each
node, select shutdown, then in the \adept dir type adept /nodes 2 and you
will
be online with a 2 node bbs all your own. And the adpt109.zip is updated
daily
with any new builds I put out so you'll have the latest build running.
Hope you enjoy being an adeptxbbs sysop, i hang out in irc chat #adept if you
have internet access. If not I read this echo regularly too.
