BS> Ok! Kind a long story .. I'm using Linux and running EleBBS, BS> the transfer protocols in many terminal programs sucks, BS> because they are made for slow transfers.. not quite... remember, "back in the day" we used a dedicated line between the bbs and us... today, with the internet, its a shared line/pipe... and its also not as direct as it used to be... a packet, today, may travel via one route and the next packet may travel via another route... this all due to the routers talking to each other and updating their routing tables in realtime... in those days, protocols were written with certain time tolerances built in... if something exceeded the time tolerance, then we resent that packet... with the varying routes and the sharing of the pipeline, it is quite easy for those old timing tolerances to be exceeded... heck, FTP has something like a 10 minute timing tolerance (!!)... )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
