  As mike noted, this would be a tiny lag - an extra DNS lookup and
probably a bounce off an extra web server.   However, this extra web bounce
creates an extra point of failure, confusion, and troubleshooting if
something goes wrong.

   In terms of Google indexing, it would be better for the entire web site
to be under http://mydomain.com , in case you have to move ISPs.
