| subject: | I`m on Vista - woohoo and toot toot and oh shite dang buggers |
From: "Antti Kurenniemi" So I bought a new 10k SATA disk thinking I'd plonk Vista on it, 'cause I want to test not only Vista but also just how much difference the disk speed would make on my home / development machine. And naturally when I came home I found out I had no extra cables at all (I want to keep the old disk to get the data straight from it) so I was thinking, just ignore the old disk for now but no, can't do that 'cause then I'll have no files or anything when the install is done... ...oh damnit, just upgrade the current XP install and play with the new HD later. Toot toot! Feelin' brave today. So I started the upgrade, and whoa, just 4 hours later it was done (I have a *lot* of stuff running on this system). Not too bad just few things that wouldn't work: Sygate Personal Firewall was out, and Control Panel kept crashing the Explorer (turned out to be Firebird control panel applet - deleted that and now it's ok). So far everything seems to be more or less working. Looks decent on a 20" 1600x1200 monitor, and is pretty fast with an ATI X800 display driver. So far so good...
