Wow, I'm surprised you'd be getting 50% through.  One shouldn't ever try to
contact the email address that's in a spam - the address is either invalid
or they're watching to verify real addresses.

Something like http://spamcop.net goes a long way toward a) tracking down
the real source of the spam and b) getting them reported to the appropriate
people.
