Replying to a message of JOHNJWILSON to GOD DAN: J> -> EH> We baptize *for* the dead. The person being baptized is 100% J> live -> EH> and they are being baptized for a dead relative. -> J> -> Has it occurred to you that the dead person might not have ever J> wanted -> to be a mormon? J> Now THERES a serious concern from an atheist! J> I love this echo! J> I confess it hadn't occurred to me...nor did it ever occur to me than J> an atheist is worrying about how a dead person feels about a baptism. Atheists probably don't believe the various doctrines, but they are aware of them and are aware of various religionists' thinking about them. In any case, I see no difference between proxy baptism of non-Mormons who happen to be dead and the (sometimes forcible) baptism of Jewish children into the Christian faith. Jews used to refer to the practice as 'stealing our childrens' souls.' --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 690/734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
