NOAA-N PRIME SATELLITE LAUNCH RESCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, FEB. 6

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The next launch attempt for the
NOAA-N Prime weather satellite for NASA and NOAA aboard a United
Launch Alliance Delta II rocket is rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 6.
The launch time remains 2:22 a.m. PST.

Managers decided on Friday's launch attempt based on the acceptable
hydrocarbon sample results obtained from the Delta II fairing.
Thursday's launch was scrubbed because a payload fairing air
conditioning compressor at the launch pad failed. This unit provides
cool, dry air inside the fairing prior to launch. Though unlikely,
the payload team wanted additional time to be assured that an
unacceptable level of hydrocarbons was not introduced into the
spacecraft environment within the fairing.

The probability of launch weather criteria violation is 60% based on
the proximity of disturbed clouds or a chance of rain showers.

Launch coverage on NASA Television will begin at 12 a.m. For NASA TV
