Sorry to hear of your abrupt change in plans.
Foreign travel is a different critter, all right,
it helps  a lot to travel with veterans or get
a thorough briefing. My recent trip to Cozumel
was my first trip outside the US as an adult,
traveling with friends was a big help. Remember that
Canada missed being part of the US by a matter
of hours, and I think it put their knickers in a twist
ever since. If the job will re-schedule, you may be
able to get some nice >>>photos of Springtime
in Calgary after all.
