These are the extensions I like for Firefox:

Adblock Plus
Clean and Close
Colorful Tabs
Cookie Safe
Dom Inspector
Flashblock   *  Agree only watch the ones you want
Google Toolbar For Firefox
IE Tab
Image Zoom
NoScript
Tab Effect   * New and pretty cool eye candy

And in the past I've also used Tab Mix Plus, but don't have it loaded at
present.  Cookie Safe and NoScript are must haves in my opinion along with
Flashblock for security reasons.  IE Tab is a must have for those few sites
that don't work right with the firefox display engine.  The others are just
plain cool or very useful add-ons.  I don't see any slowdown from using
this mix of add-ons.  YMMV.
