Today I added a new feature to the home page of our Endtime Prophecy Net
website. For people who may be visually-impaired, I have added twenty-nine
audio assists to the top half of the page. Whenever a person hovers their
mouse over any of the twenty-nine links, a computer-generated voice speaks
the name of the link to them. The voice is not generated on-the-fly. Neither
is the voice generated by their computer if they happen to be using
text-to-speech software. These are twenty-nine prerecorded small AIFF files
that I made using my own text-to-speech software. I may possibly convert the
AIFF files to MP3 format in order to make the file sizes a bit smaller, and
the download time faster, but it all depends on how much sound quality I
lose in the process. I am thinking of eventually extending this audio assist
feature to other areas of our website as well.
