That's one reason that string theory isn't universally acknowleged. Right now, they are working on experiments that might be able to indirectly provide data that supports their theory. Possibly more direct results will be found with the LHC. Until then, it's a very interesting hypothesis as it answers a lot of questions. But, it's still missing the required data set to support it as valid. As to religion, it just sits there and hopes that science can't peek before the BB ruin god's last hiding place. Hell, many xian religions can't handle the fact of evolution. ...
