No, he didn't say he is.  He said his friends are.  A strange thing to admit.

But it looks like a time-honored dodge.  A guy goes into a doctor's office
and says "I have this . .  er . . . I mean, MY FRIEND has this problem.  MY
FRIEND has a rash, and a burning sensation, and MY FRIEND wants to know
what to take to cure it."
