Of course. It is winter in your neck of the woods. In Summer the sun is high in
the sky and the moon is low. In winter it is the other way around...

The Netherlands is not such a great place for astronomy any more. If there are
no clouds, there is lots of scattered light, and lots of "light noise" from
aircraft. In te 60ties it was still bearable. Now you are lucky if you can see
the Pleiades.
