I believe this one will have one of the longest periods of totality for a very
long time, because the Moon is passing pretty much directly through the centre
of the Earth's shadow. The media as usual have confused the message. So,
while lunar eclipses are common (I've lost count of how many I've seen), it is
rare for totality to last as long as this one will, and the shade of red the
Moon becomes will be deeper.
