This can be due to the font/terminal emulation etc, in the linux
console. Not all Gui consoles set the right screen size. This can
lead to weird displays. Remember linux console have variable
dimensions, that can be changed on the fly. However elebbs is based
on code from a dos application. and dos applications expect 80x25
screen dimensions. Try dragging your screen larger then needed before
loading menus. Some fonts may not work well with legacy Ansi graphics.
Try using "terminal" for your font in your console.
I personaly prefer using text console vs gui for BBS and telnet
applications (tradewars looks so much better) you can change your
virtual consoles by Ctrl-Alt-f1 Ctrl-alt-f2, etc this usually will
take you out of your gui (your gui will still be running) and to text
consoles. to return to the gui, MOST linux distros use ctrl-alt-f7
(however f5 and f10 are failry comon as well) You might need to play
around and see what is what on your box. F11 and F12 usually are
diagonstic information.

you know I havn't figured this out myself, I've found news group to
work the most like a forum. however i've only gotten it to work right
using the JAM database. and you must enter the entire path for jam.
My bbs messages are stored in /home/bbs/msgfiles I MUST enter
/home/bbs/msgfiles/fosug.jam for my jam files, otherwise I think it
gets confused.

This is because yoru term screen (text console in a gui) has the wrong
keyboard map assigned to it. Following directions in #1 will solve
this as well
