And yet they seem to use points on a lot of other stuff,  outdoor power
equipment and such,  for example,  which typically has lots smaller motors
and runs at higher than automotive RPMs for the most part.  Idle speed for
a mower is what,  1800 rpm?  That'd be a low highway speed for my car...
