Better price? Doubtful. There is no pipeline from the US to Germany. Gas from
the US has to be transported in liquid form by ship. That requires special
terminal facilities. Expensive and risky.

The US is an unreliable partner. Deals made today can be unilaterally revoked
tomorrow at the whim of your president. Iran deal. Import taxes on steel and
aluminium. Being under the thumb of Trump may be worse than being under the
thumb of Trump.
