Hi Brian,
BC>I had a pair that turned out to be two females(luvbirds). They kept
BC>laying and buiding nests over the eggs till they were right up to the
BC>top of the nest box. There were so many eggs thats how I knew it was
They are just like Zebra finches in that respect. They will start adding
material, sometimes, before the chicks are out. I always limited the
amount of branches that I put in. If it was needed, I added more.
At one point, I had three pair of lovebirds build a wonderful nest on
the shelf behind the nest boxes. It was about three feet long and about
a foot high. When I wanted to check the next site all I had to do was
pull out a nextbox. The nest was so tightly woven that it was not
disturbed.
Take care, Fran
