Although I agree that Delphi is simply an indirect competitor, it has many 
folks here pretty excited about it.  I, for one, see little need for a 32-bit 
compiler.  Everything else I use requires supporting .DLLs, so why not my 
apps,too?
However, even _I_ find Delphi miles ahead of VB for getting something decent 
out and looking good.  And it does read so many file formats.....
