Thanks Mike,

By locally, I mean a local connection to ele from the command line. If I
telnet into the local box via 127.0.0.1 (or any of it's IPs), I get the lag
before logon which should count the router and switch out of the equation.
Ele is not configured to detect ansi, so that isn't it either. It should
just assume ansi, I'd guess. Let me know if there's anything else you think
I should look at. Oh, and logo.asc doesn't show either.

What do you mean by "telnet into the local box"? is that not locally?
The result should be the same if you use localhost or the actual ip
if you are on the same box.

When we discussed this previously, it seemed to be caused by your
router. Is that correct?

Does logo.asc display instead? Is elconfig configured for ansi/rip detect?

I susepect the long pause causes ansi detection to fail, so logo.asc
should display in that case.

Regards, Mike
