subject: Re: Activation of EOL products

From: "Randy H"

In reading the Microsoft 'documentation' on Product Activation they state
that Microsoft "will likely" release an update to disable
activation once a product that uses activation reaches end-of-life status,
implying that activation will cease to be provided on EOL products as that
is a support function.

In the same section Microsoft vehemtly states that activation is nothing
more than an anti-piracy method and not a method to force users to new
versions of their product.

If "will likely" became "will" and they actually do
release such an update then I have no issue.

We'll see what happens, but I'm not that confident that such a thing will
be forthcoming.
