G'day Paul,

In a msg to you, Rod Gasson said:

Don't try a 1581 power supply!!

According to Doug at CMD it can't supply enough current for the HD. I
made the mistake of using my HD for awhile with a 1581 PS and had many
of the symptoms you've described, which went away when I got a proper
HD supply to use.

A new PS from CMD is around $60US and comes with a detachable cord so
you can remove the septic tank version and use a proper Oz cord. It's
a switch mode one so it can be used here. Thing is, I'd hate for you
to order a new power supply if you're not certain that's where the
problem is. Kinda a catch-22 situation though, really.

Cheers,
Gaelyne
