G'day Paul, In a msg to you, Rod Gasson said: PE> However, the first thing I'd suspect (after having similar PE> weird/random lights flashing) is the power supply. Easiest thing PE> to do is to try a replacement.. possibly from a 1581 drive? Don't try a 1581 power supply!! According to Doug at CMD it can't supply enough current for the HD. I made the mistake of using my HD for awhile with a 1581 PS and had many of the symptoms you've described, which went away when I got a proper HD supply to use. A new PS from CMD is around $60US and comes with a detachable cord so you can remove the septic tank version and use a proper Oz cord. It's a switch mode one so it can be used here. Thing is, I'd hate for you to order a new power supply if you're not certain that's where the problem is. Kinda a catch-22 situation though, really. Cheers, Gaelyne ... Falls don't kill people. It's the deceleration trauma. -=- QWKRR128 V5.0B [R] ---* Origin: Lunar Illuminations / gaelyne{at}hal9000.net.au (3:800/409.64) SEEN-BY: 50/99 54/99 620/243 623/630 640/820 711/413 430 934 712/311 407 505 SEEN-BY: 712/506 517 610 623 624 704 713/317 714/906 800/1 2 409 419 422 442 SEEN-BY: 800/446 447 453 455 456 459 462 463 805 810 812 816 822 843 846 @PATH: 800/409 1 712/624 711/934 |
