Yes, sometimes when we change things in the phone system we have to reboot
(not all cards are hot swap) and then people lose calls. But nobody ever
loses a call because of the wiring system between the phone system and
their phone, there are no switches, no network events, nothing that ever
causes us any problems in the "network" part of our system.
Our voice mail system is PC based, it once blew the hard drive and was down
for 2 days. I can't imagine the dollar losses of having our phone system
blow a hard drive and be down for 2 days, that would be a huge disaster.
