Hi there Michael. Do you really have a problem with your platy's breeding
that much? What do you have in your tank, or what do you do, that has them
breeding left and right? While it is apparently a problem for you, I'd like
to get the same thing happening here. So far, we haven't had anything breed.

Here's the water conditions for that tank. There is a varience that
I will mention, but the changes are very slow. I would say that
there is about a month between extreams if there is any change.
Most of the time the conditions are very stable.
TEMP 75-80
PH 7.2-7.6
NITRATES >12.5 <50
HARDNESS Slightly hard- medium hard Lake Michigan water.
There are a lot of live plants in the tank which provide good hiding
places for the young. I do water changes once, or twice a week with
a 10% maximum at any one time. I feed them three times a day with a
mixture of flake food, and freeze dried brine shrimp. It is a 50
gal. tank, and it is filtered with two skilter filters.

That has become a bit of a problem here. The fish seem to regard it as a
salad bar, and they go snack on it from time to time. I've heard that it
grows like crazy, so I'm hoping that it will keep up. If not, well, I guess
if they want to eat it, it's not the end of the world. It only cost me 99
cents for a handful of it- grin.
