      Title: Ribbon Cake

           Text
 
  Two cups of sugar, one cup of butter, four eggs, one cup of milk,
  three and a half cups of flour, one teaspoonful of cream tartar, half
  a teaspoonful of soda and flavor with lemon. Bake two thirds of this
  mixture above in tow pans. To the remainder add one tablespoonful of
  molasses, one cup of chopped raisins, half a cup of currants, a piece
  of citron chopped fine, a quarter of a teaspoonful each of cinnamon,
  cloves and nutmeg. Bake in one pan. The put the sheets alternately
  with a little jelly or the white of an egg beaten to a froth. Ice the
  top layer of you wish.
