Wow! Talk about echoing my life. :) I had Polio in 1945 also, but was 4 1/2
years old. Both my legs were affected and I've used braces on both legs and
crutches since. I've gotten to the point now, where I can't wear the braces
all day and rely more and more on my wheelchair. You'll find others around
here who've had the same experiences.
The best source I've found for information on PPS is:
Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation
Post-Polio Rehabilitation and Research Service
Dr. Richard Bruno, Director
299 Market Street
Saddle Brook, NJ 07662
201-368-6057
I think I had an 800 number for them at one time, but can't seem to find it
right now. Maybe Tom or someone else will come up with it.
There are, of course, other sources for information, but Kessler seems to be
the one I've been able to get the most/best from.
BTW, welcome aboard the POST_POLIO echo! You'll quickly make a lot of good
friends around here.
