"Only about 10% of their bill goes to the USA Network, WTBS, and etc."

Cable subscribers ought to know that the "bread and butter" of
a cable system's revenues come from the premium channels and
pay-per-view.

If viewers in a community do not like their service, or want
to see a line of programming introduced, and the cable company
doesn't respond, an organized dropping of premium channels
will get their attention mighty quickly.

I've heard the split (typically) is 50-50 between the
cable company and the premium provider.

A lot of people are not aware that some services actually
pay for carriage (not the premium ones, of course).
