It all depends on what type of Pair Gain they are using. If your voice
calls are no good, keep calling them till they fix it! What type of problems
are you having with the voice calls? I ask this because as a general rule a
"voice grade" line (which is actually what we are all using) is not
guaranteed to work above 9600 on data (lower in some areas) but I have seen
pair gain lines that work better with modems than an analog line at the same
location. It all depends on the type of pair gain and your distance from the
Telco Central office.

This can cause problems but to clear something up here...a pair gain
system takes the analog signal, changes it to digital and multiplexes (muxes)
the signal in the C.O. Then there is a remote unit somewhere near you that
de-muxes the signal and changes it back to analog. If the timing is not
correct that could be where you are getting the problems.
There is really nothing YOU can do with the modem to make it work better,
you might ask the phone company if there is any "copper" available or they
might be able to move someone that is not on pair gain, to the pair gain and
allow you to use their "copper pair." This option may not be available
because some areas have ONLY pair gain available.
Note to Moderator: I realize this is not exactly on topic, but I am trying
to help Matt get use out of his Supra modem.
