Heres a small addemendum to my previous post on K-frame bushings;
I was ramblin on;
> We don't either really. This will be the chance for all those Mopar or
>no car fanatics to speak up with some exact specs. =) They should be ashamed
>if a Chevy man has to tell them what their k-frame bushings look like. ;)
Okay, now that I test fitted the foot-in-mouth =)
some other notes;
-the k-frame bushings affect a number of things
-alignment (the front suspension is hung off the k-frame)
-steering (the steering box is bolted to the k-frame)
-those bushings are HUGE.
-there are polyurethane aftermarket bushings for some, but not all
applications.
-Mopar Performance sells a cast iron bushing elimination kit.
-requires steering shaft modifications (u-joint required ala street rod)
--the solid mounts are only some 2 inches thick so the k-frame is
reposistioned.
-quite frankly, a race, or low use vehicle item as no vibration or noise
isolation will exist.
I suspect if you want minimal work, you're going to have to get
replacements, or make some reasonably close reproductions yourself. (So, the
hockey pucks and Nova bushing stack are out of the picture)
If you decide to drive until they fall out, you might find yourself with a
bent steering shaft, and a front end that wobbles any which way.
