PN> Your "solution," if it causes the eviler of two lessers to be

GP> Not if 50 million other gun owners voted pro-gun, too.

Which will happen right after the saucers land in Times Square...

95% of the public doesn't even know about the libertarian party, let alone
Harry Brown. When was the last time he was on the network news? CNN? When you
say "other" to the general public they think Perot and no one gives him a
chance to do anything except dump on the Republicans.

And if you think you'll be sending a message by voting for Bullwinkle J.
Moose, think again. If you aren't voting for a contender with a real shot at
winning the politicians look at it the same as if you weren't voting at all
and just go merrily down their same old path.

Remember, both candidates have essentially told the 3,000,000 members of NRA
and GOA to go moisten a rope.

In 1992, a year when everyone was fed up with the way things are, the
Libertarian candidate didn't even manage to get a half million votes
nation-wide. 300,000, if I recall. Even if they double or triple that this
time it will mean squat. Perot did better than that and I didn't see any rush
to accomodate him or his supporters.

The time to have done something positive was during the primaries. Now the
best we can hope for is to get or keep pro-2nd people in congress and work to
fill it with more libertarian-oriented people in the future.

You might have a shot a getting a Libertarian candidate into a house seat but
you are never going to jump from "the what party?" to the white house.

When the dust clears this fall there will be either a socialist disarmer or a
wishy-washy poll-watcher heading for Pennsylvania Avenue. The best we can
hope for is to give them a congress that will dare to say, "No!"

We did it in 1994 but got complacent and let them off their leash, where the
media started beating on them and made them doubt we would be there for them.
Now we have to do it all again. Either whip them into shape or find new ones.
