Our voicemail also had a web interface and the capability to send voicemail
notifications to a pager or as a text message to a cel phone or as an
email. The vendor claims it's part of the phone system but it's actually a
separate PC running linux.
Our extensions are set by what walljack you use, that way we can list them
in a directory by location instead of by person and users can configure
their speed dials on the phone but they stick with the extension not the
phone. If we want an extension to follow a user it's a simple matter of
changing a jumper cable in the phone room (remember all those red and blue
jumper wires in the room with the murrey box?)
